Boston Security Analysts Society’s 3rd Annual Sustainable Investing Seminar will be held on Thursday, November 19th
NOVEMBER 5, 2015 // BOSTON, MA: On Thursday, November 19th the Boston Security Analysts Society will host its third full-day Sustainable Investing Seminar.
“Sustainable Investing” is often used interchangeably with the terms “Mission-based Investing,” “Green Investing,” “Impact Investing,” “SRI Investing,” “ESG Investing,” and “Ethical Investing.” No matter which term you use, interest in Sustainable Investing is growing. In fact, attendance at this seminar increased by 64% from 2013 to 2014.
Designed to help mainstream professionals navigate sustainable investing challenges, this event will bring together thought leaders, practitioners and asset owners to provide practical advice to meet the needs of an ever-growing investor group demanding Sustainable Investing Products.
The US SIF Foundation’s 2014 Report on Sustainable and Responsible Investing Trends in the United States, finds that as of year-end 2013, more than one out of every six dollars under professional management in the United States—$6.57 trillion or more—was invested with a SRI (Sustainable and Responsible Investing) strategy.
Robert G. Eccles, PhD, Professor at Harvard Business School, who is a presenter at this year’s seminar, commented that “[U]sing material environmental, social, and governance (ESG) issues as a potential outperformance driver is becoming more common across asset managers, asset owners and asset classes, although those doing so are still in the distinct minority. As Sustainable Investing, defined as generating consistent returns on a long-term basis, increasingly moves into the mainstream, it will continue to expand globally. I’d even venture to say that within six months, nearly every asset owner and asset manager will claim to have one or more ESG products.”
Speakers will include representatives from firms such as MFS, MSCI, UBS, Kepos Capital, SASB, Harvard Business School, and Trillium Asset Management.
The seminar is sponsored by Assette, Audit Analytics, Babson College’s Stephen D. Cutler Center for Investments and Finance, Bentley University, Breckinridge Capital Advisors, Columbia Threadneedle, MSCI, State Street Global Markets, and Trillium Asset Management.
