Balanced Account Management

Trillium Asset Management Corporation  (”Trillium”) offers balanced accounts in a range of allocations to meet specific financial objectives, from conservative to aggressive.

Balanced accounts combine stock and bond investments in order to capture much of the return of an equity account with less exposure to declines in stock market prices. We offer balanced accounts for both tax-exempt and tax-sensitive clients. Our fixed income discipline focuses on investment grade or better quality intermediate-term corporate, government agency, and/or municipal bonds.

Many Trillium clients prefer to avoid investment in U.S. Government Treasuries, because the proceeds go into the government’s general fund and may be used for military contracts. For clients with these concerns, the bond portion of the portfolios has typically been invested in U.S. Agency obligations of such organizations as the Student Loan Marketing Association, the Federal Home Loan Association, and the Federal Farm Credit System, as well as intermediate-term corporate bonds meeting the client’s social criteria. For tax-sensitive accounts, we combine tailored investment grade municipal bonds consistent with client objectives with the appropriate/selected equity discipline.
